Old Release: Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special
I figured if we were going to see Booster Gold anywhere this week, it would be in Dark Crisis: Big Bang. After all, the whole issue is a trip through the new DC Multiverse drawn by Dan Jurgens and Norm Rapmund.
But no. No Booster anywhere.
To be fair, that makes sense. The issue revisits the concepts of the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Booster Gold wasn't in the DC Universe then. (Flash Fact: Booster Gold was the first new character to appear on the sole Earth to survive into the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe!)
However, just when I was prepared to write about something else today, Booster booster Logan writes in to tell me that about a Booster Gold appearance I missed last week!
Set your eyes on this panel from Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1:
art by Will Conrad and Romulo Fajardo Jr.
You might be surprised to learn that this is the first time Booster Gold has appeared on panel with Apollo and Midnighter in mainstream continuity. Granted, Apollo and Midnighter didn't leave the Wildstorm Universe and join the mainstream DCU until the New 52, but that's still been over a decade. About time, guys!
So if you do go to your Local Comic Shop this week, be sure to check the shelves for last week's comics. Thanks, Logan!

Happy 30th Anniversary, JLI
If you think about it, we owe the longevity of our hero to the success of 1987's Justice League reboot which launched 30 years ago yesterday.
Although Dan Jurgens created a unique and endearing character in Michael "Booster" Carter, it was the character's inclusion in J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen's reboot of DC's flagship team (and specifically his relationship with Blue Beetle) that cemented Booster Gold's place in the DCU. Without the JLI, Booster Gold probably would have faded to the same sort of neverland as other lesser known DC characters like Geo-Force or Blue Devil.
In celebration of the anniversary, the Irredeemable Shag interviewed DeMatteis for a very special edition of the Justice League International: Bwah-Ha-Ha Podcast. The writer admitted that Booster Gold held a unique place in the series.
Shag: Favorite JLI members. Give me like two or three.
DeMatteis: Well, Beetle and Booster for sure. Because in so many ways, they're the heart and soul of the book. ... I love the banter, and I love that we continued to play with them.
We love it too!
You can find the whole podcast interview, which covers the JLI from their inception, through their name changes, and into the year 3000, at fireandwaterpodcast.com.
Something tells me we'll still be celebrating the JLI when it's 60th anniversary rolls around. In every medium, great entertainment endures.

Spread the Word
This weekend The Blot asked me for a Booster Gold 30th Anniversary badge so that he could promote Booster Gold on his website, TheBlotSays.com. That got me thinking that maybe I should make one for everybody.
So there you go. Steal that image and post it somewhere you think it will remind people of the awesomeness of Booster Gold, even if that place is just your own desktop.

Let's Get This Party Started
Yesterday I let Superman have his fun, but now it's Booster's turn.
If you refresh your browser cache and look at the header above (or the background on the sides), you'll see that I've rolled out a new dress for Booster Gold's 30th Anniversary. Yup, that's right. Whoo-hoo! Booster Gold is now an "established" super hero.
Booster Gold #1 was released on November 21, 1985 with a February 1986 cover date. He was the first character introduced into the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe, which DC is celebrating with Convergence. So we Booster Gold fans are going to celebrate, too. We'll start the celebration now and let it run until February of next year.
(And lest you think the 30th anniversary is an odd number to celebrate, I remind you that in 1992, Marvel Comics pulled out all the stops to promote Spider-Man's 30th. Reminders were printed wherever possible, and the web-slinger even got a bunch of his own hologram covers. If it's good enough for Spider-Man, it's good enough for Booster Gold!)
I've already declared 2015 the Year of Booster Gold, and I hope that DC will join in the celebration with some great new Booster Gold stories in coming months. Booster will be appearing regularly in Justice League 3000 and will play some role in April's Convergence, including his own two-issue tie-in series. That sounds like a pretty good start to what we hope will be a great year.
How are you going to celebrate Booster Gold's 30th Anniversary?
